Kimpton aims to be a fun hotel brand, with unique touches, like goldfish you can take to your room, animal-print robes, a raid-the-minibar benefit, and secret passwords that get you an extra surprise when you check-in. To introduce their most loyal guests to their newest hotels, all Inner Circle members can book a free night at each new Kimpton hotel. This benefit applies during the first six months or so that it is open. Each year they open about 5-10 new hotels. You’d have to travel a lot to get to take advantage of more than a couple per year, but theoretically your elite status could get as many as a dozen free hotel nights per year.

In 2017, they opened new hotels in Sacramento, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville, Amsterdam, Charlotte, Seattle, and Palm Springs.

Acquiring Inner Circle status

Unfortunately getting Kimpton Inner Circle status is not easy. You'll need to qualify for IHG Spire Elite status, as well as "frequently stay at Kimpton hotels". There is no published number of Kimpton nights that are required to receive your "invitation", they supposedly evaluate you based on your travel patterns.

The underlying IHG Spire Elite status normally requires 75 qualifying nights, across the entire IHG program. However, it is also possible to qualify by earning 75,000 elite qualifying points, and there are a number of shortcuts for earning those points. Guide to the IHG Rewards Club.
