- Capital One introduces a new transferable point program and the highest signup bonus of all time. Capital One has joined Amex's Membership Reward Points and Chase's Ultimate Rewards with a new "transferable points" reward program. Starting in December, you'll have the option of transferring your Capital One miles to any of 12 different frequent flyer programs. With the Venture card, you'll earn you choice of 1.5 frequent flyer miles per dollar, or 2% towards any travel purchase.
- Three opportunities to easily earn a free car rental. There are currently three great promotions where you can earn a free car rental day, after only on or two rentals. This is a great way to get more value from your car rental dollars.
- RIP Cash and Points hotel awards. Over the last year or so, Hilton, Marriott, SPG and now Hyatt have modified their Cash and Points awards. Once a great way to get more value form your reward points, the major program's Cash and Points awards are now almost entirely useless.
- Citi Prestige's 4th night free benefit will be limited to only two uses per year. If you occasionally stay in the same hotel for 4 or more nights, the Citi Prestige's 4th night free benefit was probably the most lucrative benefit available from any card. Citi refunds the cost of a hotel night on pretty much any hotel reservation of 4 nights or more. With the revamped version of the card, you will no longer be able to take advantage of this benefit an unlimited number of times per year.
And for anyone who can generate a lot of credit card spending, you can take advantage of the most valuable credit card signup bonus of all time. If you spend $50,000 during your first six months with the Capital One Spark card, you'll earn a total of 300,000 Capital One miles, which can be redeemed for $3,000, or for 225,000 actual airline miles.
