Quick Guide

  • La Quinta points are worth about .8 cents each. How Much are Hotel Points Worth?
  • You can use La Quinta points to book almost any hotel, not just the ones operated by La Quinta. Similar to the Chase, Citibank, and Amex, they provide a general hotel booking site that allows you to pay with your points, or with a combination of cash and points.
  • Most people won’t stay at La Quinta often enough to earn free nights or elite status, and there is no La Quinta credit card to quickly build up a bunch of points. If you stay at La Quinta only occasionally, we recommend earning airlines miles, rather than La Quinta points for your stays. On the other hand, La Quinta provides good options for using small number of points to make purchases.

Award Chart

For booking at La Quinta brand hotels:

Cat Points
1 6,000
2 8,000
3 11,000
4 15,000
5 18,000
6 24,000

You can redeem your points for almost any hotel, not just ones operated by La Quinta, by booking online at the La Quinta website. When booking 3rd party hotels, the value per point ranges from .5 to 1 cent per point. La Quinta 3rd Party Hotel Booking Site.

Acquiring Points

You can earn 10 points for every dollar spent at La Quinta. Gold and Elite members earn bonuses of 20% or 30% on stays. You can earn airline miles instead of points. You’ll get 250 miles per stay with most airline programs, and 600 miles per stay with Southwest.

Purchasing points. You can buy or receive up to 40,000 points per year, in 1,000-point increments, for 1.1 cents per point. Sometimes promotions are available, which allow you purchase points for less money per point and enable you to purchase more points per year. Acquiring More Hotel Points When They are On Sale.

Keeping your Points from Expiring

You can lose your points, if you go 18 months without any account activity. Our Keep Your Points from Expiring article provides more details about strategies for keeping track of upcoming expiration dates and keeping your points alive.
