Core hotel websites

  • Kayak. Our favorite tool for checking “normal” hotel rates. Also provides access to a good selection of private deals (when you are signed in).
  • Trip Advisor. The most comprehensive user review site for hotels. Can also be very helpful when you are trying to figure out which hotel you might be getting from Hotwire.
  • Hotels.com. With the best loyalty program of any of the 3rd party travel sites, it is your best choice for booking a hotel, if you can’t get a better deal directly on the hotel’s website or with one of the specialty booking sites.
  • Award Wallet. The best tool for keeping track of all your loyalty programs. You can use Award Wallet for quick access to any loyalty program website.
  • Hotwire. A great way to get a good hotel for a lot less money.
  • goSeek. The single best site for finding cheap “private deals” on hotels.
  • Award Mapper and Hotel Hustle. Two flawed websites for finding the award hotels located at your destination.

How to set up a new browser folder with a bunch of useful links

To get easier access to these links, either bookmark this page or set up a bookmarks folder with just the individual websites you want.

The easiest way to do set this up is to:

  1. Close-down any extra tabs (or open this tab in a new window), so that you’re starting with a clean browser window.
  2. Ctrl+Click to open any of the links that you want to save, so that it opens in a new tab. You should have one tab for each webpage you want to add.
  3. Take advantage of a command in your browser to bookmark all the currently open pages. In Chrome, you can find this in the menu on the right-edge of the address bar:
  4. AddBookmarks.png

Other browsers have a similar feature.

  5. Name the new folder and choose where you want it to go. You can also choose to add the links to an existing folder instead.
  6. Over time add any additional websites that you find useful.
